Site Updates Estelle Getty, the actress who played Sophia Petrillo for seven years on The Golden Girls and for several more years on various spinoffs such as The Golden Palace and Empty Nest, passed away today, just three days shy of her 85th birthday after a long battle with the disorder Lewy Body Dimentia. Estelle, along with the other three Girls, won an Emmy for her work on the show. She will be dearly missed by all Golden Girls fans all over the world. Rest in peace, Ma. July 22, 2008 | E-mail Me
